NB We do have volunteers in these positions currently but we are looking for more to spread the load, particularly with our growing use of social media.
We need people to gather Society information for inclusion in our three times a year newsletters, initially to pass on to the current editor but also with a view to becoming an editor or writer for in the future.
Similarly, we want people to act as webmasters and update the website (on WordPress) on a regular basis with WCBS events, stories and photos.
There are currently also a number of different facebook pages to work with and a Twitter account to help manage.
People with writing/journalism skills, IT skills, has a working knowledge of SEO, knowledge and experience of writing for & using social media, all welcome.

It’s time once again for the WCBS AGM.
On April 24th the members, Trustees and Council of Management will meet at 2pm in the shop, 173 Stamford Street, Ashton under Lyne. The Trustees then resign and, if they wish, can stand for re-election together with others who are interested.

All members are entitled to come to the quarterly General Meetings and their views, input and offers of help with current matters are always welcome. Local members are usually reminded but of course this depends on phone numbers and email addresses being updated with us.

CAN YOU HELP -as a volunteer restorer, skipper, crew member, finance person or trustee?
Restoring and using historic wooden boats takes lots of time and dedication.
Our wonderful team of volunteers, under the expert guidance of Hazel our volunteer co-ordinator, are working non-stop on the last tiny details on Hazel-the-boat also Forget Me Not and Southam.
The boatyard in Stalybridge never looked so tidy, all ready for Lilith’s turn for a bit of t.l.c.
But behind all that ongoing activity is crew and skipper training sessions, a shop to run and manage, accounts to keep on top of…………………….so, if you can help at all in any way please do contact us. You don’t even have to live near Ashton under Lyne as fund-raising, membership and newsletter management and various other things can be done online on the comfort of your own settee !!

This is great for us as we save postage (and for the planet too !). If you’re already a member/subscriber and are happy to receive your newsletter by email please notify the Membership Secretary, Kath Walls, via firstname.lastname@example.org.

A very useful and interesting AGM was held this afternoon in our Ashton under Lyne charity shop. Last year’s efforts and results were reported on, then we had lunch and then Colin Scrivener, our newsletter editor and a previous owner of our boat Hazel, gave a fascinating illustrated talk on her early years.
Some new volunteers attended and some networking was managed over lunch so it was a very worthwhile event, not just a compulsory meeting which had to be got through.

The 2014 Annual Report has been emailed to all members for whom we have a current email address and hard copies will also be available at the AGM on Sunday 26th April. (see the post below for more details of that).
Many members renew annually via their bank but forget to let us know new email addresses and emails are being returned ”failed to send”. If you’re a member and not getting email notifications or newsletters from us, and would like to, please can you contact me – Kath Walls, membership secretary – at email@example.com or via this website.
