General Meetings

As we had a couple of silly situations in 2016 re the dates of the General Meetings firstly in May with the meeting falling just one month after the AGM and secondly in August where we didn’t have a quorum due to people being on holiday.

So it has been decided to change the dates to the following………….

12th October 2016

11th January 2017

AGM April 2017 – exact date to be notified nearer the time

12th July 2017           and so one each year.

GENERAL MEETING INVITATION

Hello all members, don’t forget it’s our quarterly General Meeting this coming Wednesday 10th February. To be held at 7 pm – prompt – in our shop at 173 Stamford Street, Ashton under Lyne – parking available outside the shop.

Paid up members can vote on issues at the meeting and have their say regarding the onward direction of the Society. We are always looking for help, especially now that we’re starting with Well-Being trips on Hazel for real; she’s already had her first paid trip and this year is the real start of her being busy again on the canals with lots of bookings in the pipeline.

So, if your membership’s lapsed or you’re new to the Society, worry not !! Subscriptions will be happily taken at the meeting.

Look forward to seeing you there.

November GENERAL MEETING

On the 11th of November a lively general meeting was held in the shop premises. Many of our volunteers and members attended and heard about the recent happenings and future plans of the Society.

The minutes of the meeting can be read here   2015_11_11GeneralMeetingminutes.doc

GENERAL MEETING

We would like to invite all members to the General Meeting to be held at 7pm on Wednesday 11th October in the shop at 173 Stamford Street, Ashton under Lyne.

Please let us know if you intend to come as we need numbers for seating.

Obviously at this time the society has a great future to look forward to. Hazel has been out and about on trips with volunteers and local sponsors to test the running of the boat and give the trainee crew some ‘hands on experience’ with guests on board. She will soon commence her new role and the other boats will hopefully be able to get more attention. During talks with the Canals and Rivers Trust about moorings for Hazel several opportunities came up for us to work with them and some very new (for us) and exciting project days have been enjoyed with more to come.

We are always looking for more volunteers, members and trustees. If you are interested in enquiring about any of these roles please comment on this post, email us or come to the meeting whether currently a member or not. Thanks to all our members for your continued support and we hope to see you on the 11th.

AUGUST GENERAL MEETING

A well attended General Meeting was held at the Wooden Canal Boat shop on 12th August 2015  The minutes can be read here………..2015_08_12 General Mtg Minutes.

All members are entitled to come to the quarterly General Meetings and their views, input and offers of help with current matters are always welcome. Local members are usually reminded but of course this depends on phone numbers and email addresses being updated with us.

If you would like to come to these meetings the dates are in the Newsletter.

WANTED !

CAN YOU HELP -as a volunteer restorer, skipper, crew member, finance person or trustee?

Restoring and using historic wooden boats takes lots of time and dedication.
Our wonderful team of volunteers, under the expert guidance of Hazel our volunteer co-ordinator, are working non-stop on the last tiny details on Hazel-the-boat also Forget Me Not and Southam.

The boatyard in Stalybridge never looked so tidy, all ready for Lilith’s turn for a bit of t.l.c.

But behind all that ongoing activity is crew and skipper training sessions, a shop to run and manage, accounts to keep on top of…………………….so, if you can help at all in any way please do contact us. You don’t even have to live near Ashton under Lyne as fund-raising, membership and newsletter management and various other things can be done online on the comfort of your own settee !!

Looking forward to the emails coming flooding in……………….. or come and see us in person at the General Meeting Wed 12th Aug at 6.45 in the shop at 173 Stamford Street, Ashton. Thanks
