We need a larger team of folk to carry the society through our next stages. The Big Lottery paid for a full-time Project Development Manager and a Volunteer Co-ordinator. Now their grant has finished Claire Bebbington is employed as Community Boat Co-ordinator and runs the Hazel Project ongoing with a team of volunteers and volunteer crew, under our part-time skipper, Chris Leah.
We are also looking at the future of the boatyard in Stalybridge; whether or not we buy it from TMBC a lot of planning work needs to be done.
Plus we need at least three Trustees to carry the work forward and check compliance with Charity governance.
So – CAN YOU HELP US?
If you think you would be interested in any kind of admin work in any of the fields above, please don’t hesitate to let us know. Training is given, we just need some dedication and enthusiasm for the projects.

As we had a couple of silly situations in 2016 re the dates of the General Meetings firstly in May with the meeting falling just one month after the AGM and secondly in August where we didn’t have a quorum due to people being on holiday.
So it has been decided to change the dates to the following………….
12th October 2016
11th January 2017
AGM April 2017 – exact date to be notified nearer the time
12th July 2017 and so one each year.

We need more members to support our work going forward with Hazel now fully operative as Tameside’s only wooden Well-Being boat. Especially a treasurer to work with our new online banking and QuickBooks – training given.
Also general help and folk who can come to monthly Council of Management meetings with a possibility of becoming a Trustee after a period of getting to know each other.
We’ve still got 5 old boats needing care and attention so even if you can only spare small amounts of time on these, do contact us.

On April 24th the members, Trustees and Council of Management will meet at 2pm in the shop, 173 Stamford Street, Ashton under Lyne. The Trustees then resign and, if they wish, can stand for re-election together with others who are interested.

A very useful and interesting AGM was held this afternoon in our Ashton under Lyne charity shop. Last year’s efforts and results were reported on, then we had lunch and then Colin Scrivener, our newsletter editor and a previous owner of our boat Hazel, gave a fascinating illustrated talk on her early years.
Some new volunteers attended and some networking was managed over lunch so it was a very worthwhile event, not just a compulsory meeting which had to be got through.
A rapt audience for Colin Scrivener’s illustrated talk on Hazel’s early years. He was a previous owner of Hazel after she’d been converted to a live-aboard boat.
Hazel Mayow, our Volunteer Co-ordinator and Fiona Dunk, a Trustee, were first to the lunch table !!!

The 2014 Annual Report has been emailed to all members for whom we have a current email address and hard copies will also be available at the AGM on Sunday 26th April. (see the post below for more details of that).
Many members renew annually via their bank but forget to let us know new email addresses and emails are being returned ”failed to send”.
